Happy Christmas?

If you’ve been in living in a cave, stock markets worldwide are dropping down after the Wall Street plunge. And with most of my money invested on stocks, I can’t help but worry if things would be better before Christmas.
PSEi ended well today. So maybe it’s a sign that investors are buying again after more than a week of bargain. So maybe my Christmas will be merry after all.

Just when I thought I’d give up on making calls to the Philippines too much (my monthly bill is around 15,000yen!), Access Plus called me the other day to upgrade my card to platinum. Platinum?! Is that one of those cards they give only to their “special” clients? Hmmm…another one of their marketing strategies?
I was ready to say “no” but when the operator told me I’d be geting a monthly Tagalog Newspaper subscription for free, I suddenly changed my mind. (What? I’m weak with anything free. Hehehe.) Not only that, I’m also getting 10% discount every time I load my card. So what can I say. Access Plus definitely know how to keep their customers. And their marketing strategy definitely worked!
P.S. While I’m writing this, the Platinum Card came. It looks like a credit card (glossy & thick) and it has my name on it.
China’s Fake News
Kazu had been talking endlessly for days about China’s cardboard-stuffed buns. But it turned out to be nothing but a lie. Apparently, the reporter did it to earn higher ratings. He’s now in jail.
Just a short flashback: Kazu started hating China (and everything that has to do with it!) after a Chinese hacker hacked our server and left us unemployed for a couple of months. I’ve moved on. He hasn’t.
Did someone lose their 4 million?
I mystery guy is leaving 10,000yen ($82) bills in men’s toilets at government offices around Japan.
Since April 9, some 4 million yen ($32,720) has been found in men’s rooms from the northernmost island of Hokkaido to the southern island of Okinawa, Japanese media say. Virtually all has been found in government office buildings.
What to Write
I’ve been blogging for over a year now* but I’m still lost as to what topic to write about. I don’t know what kind of people visit my site or if there are even visitors. I get emails occasionally–the most recent of which is from a guy named Paul who just said “enjoyed your blog”. Sweet, short & simple.

Engineer who?

You know what’s funny? People who call themselves “engineer”.
Those are the same people who spent half of their lives finishing a 5-year course after 7 years…barely passed the midterm exams…and yet they are now proud engineers.
I have a lot of friends who earned the title. And yet they are the ones who don’t brag about it. They are the humble ones. But for most of my happy-go-lucky classmates, think twice before sending an email with a signature: “Engr. I’m Somebody”. Unless you really want to make a fool of yourselves.
The Solution Part 1
Hi everyone!
First of all, I’d like to thank the members of JGUYUSGUY for their emails and comments. I know that you we all have our own problems and mine is really not THAT big.
It’s been a while since my last post. (I posted a “mini” blog prior to this because I felt I needed to.)
I’ve been taking some time with myself for a while now watching movies, going to karaoke boxes, dining out, getting massages (umm…the non-sexual one). Wait, did I mention I’ve been doing all of these alone??! I’m a very lonely man! Well, not really. I’ve been a loner since high school. I enjoy being alone.
Anyway, while sipping latte at Starbucks last week, there was this male couple sitting accross me that got my attention. (Well, I don’t know if they are indeed a couple but they looked cute together. LOL) Anyway, while looking at them I realized exactly what I need in life right now…romance. Not money or sex…just romance. But the problem now is: where do I get it?
Ok. Let’s leave that question alone for a while and focus on my other problems. I looked back on my problem list and realized money is not my problem. The pressure involve in providing that money forever is my problem. I don’t mind helping my family. My sister helped me when I was in college and now it’s my turn to give back.
I was talking with my mother on the phone a couple of days ago and out nowhere she said: “No one is pressuring you to help us. Do not give more than what you can.” And considering that I spend around 30,000yen/month on phone bills (and 10,000yen on coffee) I can give them 30,000yen without hurting my savings.
This pressure that I feel is all in my mind. No one is pressuring me but myself. Now that’s something that I have to work in the days to come. In the meantime, let’s get back to my romance problem.
To be continued…
I’m in the Mood for Love
I found out what I really want in life now. Nope…not money. (Well maybe it’s in close second place.) Romance…just romance. But unfortunately, I’m not getting any from my present relationship.
